More About the Life of a Plastic Bag
Plastic bags are harmful from the beginning to the end of their lives.
Fossil Fuels
Carbon DioxideCarbon dioxide is a major contributor to climate change. It is released into the Earth's atmosphere through processes of making of plastic bags, drilling, and even breathing. The mass production of plastic bags releases so much of this already dangerous gas into our atmosphere that traps the heat in our planet and heating our world.

Fossil fuels are the building blocks of plastic bags. Things like oil and gases are extracted by the form of fracking, then are turned into plastic bags. Fossil fuels are non- renewable , meaning that we can run out of them. Also, burning fossil fuels pollutes the planet.

Littered BagsOnly 1% of plastic bags are recycled. The rest are left in landfills, or worse. Most end up in the oceans, or as litter on the sides of roads. As they compile, they begin to impact the life of almost every creature, and the question of "can they adapt?" is slanted in a catastrophic direction.
